Vintage Motorcycles at Revival Cycles Show Last Weekend

Written by Ken Altes

This vintage motorcycle show was about more than motorcycles, as Revival Cycles is more than a motorcycle shop.  Co-sponsored by Deus Ex Machina, this show reflected motorcycles as culture as well as industrial art.  Originally Australian, Deus Ex Machina’s vision included surfing and skateboarding with motorcycles.  Their shop there is called the Camperdown Temple of Enthusiasm. I just can’t decide if they are postmodern or post-structural.

Vintage Moto Guzzi Motorcycles at Revival Cycle’s/Deus Ex Machina Show

Revival Cycles and Deus Ex Machina are about more than motorcycles.  Revival believes that a “motorcycle should be more than a machine; it is an aesthetic expression that demonstrates the beauty of purposeful form.”  Deus “has spread its own flavour of internally combustible postmodernism around the globe. The way forward is one down, four up.”
