1956 GMC NAPCO 4×4 Truck in NW Austin, Texas

Written by Ken Altes

1956 GMC truck in NW Austin, Texas, modified with Napco’s 4×4 Power-Pak system, installed to new trucks by the dealer in about three hours. It wasn’t until 1960 that Chevrolet/GMC offered their own 4×4 system.

I think this is the same truck at auction with a good history.

SCORE! The Rarest GMC Truck of All

Written by Ken Altes

Found this rare GMC pickup in central South Austin. I thought, as many have, that this grille was a makeshift or a homemade grille, but there may be less than 100 of these production models surviving even though many were built.  This 1958/9 GMC Fleet Option 100 Model was designed for institutional users, a stripped-down truck inexpensive to buy and to maintain.  A little more info here.
