The twin turbo versions of the 1993-2002 Toyota A-80 Supras were just short of supercars. Twin turbo straight sixes making 320 hp at 5600 rpm and 315 lb·ft at 4000 rpm, weighing about 3400 lbs, could reach 60 in 4.6 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 13.1 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155 mph with phenomenal handling and braking.
Toyota got its start making 4x4s by reverse engineering a Jeep Bantam MK II captured in the Philippines in 1941, resulting in the AK10. The Toyota J60 Land Cruiser is famously durable and capable, perhaps my favorite Toyota.
Frightening to think what this Toyota Supra can do. I was not able to find any others with these widened and vented fenders. Maybe at this garage to get the front fixed. Stock, this car used a DOHC 3 liter straight six with sequential turbochargers making 321 hp that propelled it to 177 mph and 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. That’s stock. It is an under-appreciated super car built from 1993 to 2002. Very impressive car. Here is another Supra I found at Custom Car Crafters last year.
