Tough looking motorcycle getting service at Revival Cycles (link at right), when introduced for 1977, at 83 hp (and 90 hp the next year) running through a five speed transmission, the Kz1000 was the most powerful motorcycle available. This superbike does 1/4 mile in low 12 seconds, and reaches a top speed of almost 140 mph.
Carrying road grime gathered across the width of the North American Continent, and ridden by the charismatic Paul d’Orléans of The Vintagent for 4000 miles during this year’s Cannonball Run, this 1933 Brough Superior performed flawlessly, setting a record for the longest Brough ride. Prepared by Revival Cycles for the event, it is back at Revival. Built to the very highest standards when new, it more than continues to hold its own. See link at right.
It’s powerful SOHC alloy engine was inspired by the German NSU motorcycle. In turn, Laverda based larger engines on this engine. It could reach almost 10o mph, using stamped steel frames, front forks and mufflers. Electric start. Made for about a decade from about 1959. This example is at Revival Cycles, linked at right.
