Bill Collings’ Vintage Ducati 250 in SW Austin

Written by Ken Altes

Bill has a vast collection of vintage British bikes but this one is Italian. Bill has recently tackled hot rod building like he did so successfully with guitars and mandolins:  He’s already made over 20,000 guitars with exquisite craftsmanship.  Customers include Alejandro Escovedo,  Steve Martin, Roseanne Cash, John Levanthal, Lyle Lovett, Jerry Jeff Walker, Conan O’Brien, Bill Frisell, Joan Baez, Keith Richards, and Robert Earl Keen, to name a few.

Vintage Harley Davidson Flathead on S. Congress Ave

Written by Ken Altes

It appears to be an early 1940s bike, likely 1200 cc. These flathead engines were used from the 1930s into the mid 1950s, while the more modern OHV engines were also available for the last ten years or so of its run. Awkwardly, it has an hand shift at left side of the gas tank and a pedal clutch. Vintage Harley Davidson Flathead in Austin TX
