Rita Hayworth’s 1947 Lincoln Continental Hollywood Convertible – Rotting in Mexia, TX

Written by Ken Altes

This 1947 Lincoln Continental Hollywood Convertible was custom made for the 1940’s superstar Rita Hayworth. The car was shipped directly to California from the factory where it and one other were customized into “Hollywood Convertibles” at the famous Carson Top Shop. It is believed that this car appears on the set of Rita’s movie, “The Lady From Shanghai” and also is in several photos with the actress. Only 785 convertibles were manufactured in 1947 and it came pace car yellow from the factory. This car has all the signs of being done by Glen Hauser who was known for the eye brows over the headlights, frenching the tail lights, shaving the door handles, emblems and gas door including the Carson top. Now powered by a 1985 Chevy 350 engine and a turbo 350 automatic.
