1958 BMW Isetta 300 in N. Central Austin

In the back yard of a home on this weekend’s Modern Homes Tour.  Note that the door is the front of the car. A total of some 161,000 Isettas were produced by several manufacturers in several countries between 1953 and 1962. This car has 13 hp, can reach 53 mph.  More info here.

Craziest Hot Rod Ever, at Lonestar Round Up: Isetta Dragster

I asked the owner if the supercharged engine was a Ford or Chevy big block (driving a single wheel), he didn’t know – he had just bought it at an auction weeks earlier.  Lunacy.
