On my vacation, I have been looking for cars, as usual, but have seen few old cars and no modified cars. The only old cars so far are these iconic Fiats. Lots of small cars, very small cars and lots of station wagons. I’ll keep looking for something more interesting. Wikipedia says there are among the first “city cars.” Debuting in 1957 with two cylinders and 479 cc’s, giving about 17 hp, almost 4 million were made until 1975.
This little Fiat was not imported to the US, but was based on the front drive Punto, powered by a 1747cc DOHC engine but only weighs about 2300 lbs., this one built after 2000. Should be fun. Here are details. Found it a few blocks from the Circus Maximus. I’ll post the best cars and motorcycles I find on my vacation – it’s a very different scene here than home: in Rome there are few old cars and none, so far I’ve seen in two weeks, that are modified.
These sweet Italian sports cars were made from 1966 to 1982.
Designed by Ghia’s Tom Tjaarda, the 2300S Coupé is powered by a twin carb 2.3-litre straight six making 136 hp, and 145lb/ft, pushing it to 0-60 in 11.6 seconds. Weighs about 2800 lb, with four wheel disc brakes. Classy period GT car.
