This car is a build for a customer that supplied the chopped 1949 Mercury. Mercury Charlie’s staff upgraded it in only two months. Powered by a multi-carb Chevy 350 V8 and adorned with a 1953 Desoto grille. Another extraordinary accomplishment by Mercury Charlie. These guys are for real, Charlie has been doing this for four plus decades.
Very interesting 1950ish Chevrolet fastback custom on S. Lamar Boulevard in Austin, Texas. Frenched headlights, shaved door handles, decked radiused front wheel openings, nosed hood, decked trunk lid, fins and recessed taillights. Did I miss something? I don’t have pics of the inside but it has very plush bucket seats. Need to be finished but I like it.
Here is an informative thread in Jalopy Journal about custom car terms. I learned a lot!
Nifty 1953 Buick coupe custom in the parking lot at a custom car show in Granbury, Texas, SW of Ft. Worth, Texas. It was an excellent show!
This is one of my favorite cars at last year’s Pate Swap meet in Ft. Worth, Texas. The sign on the window said it was powered by a Cleveland 351 V8, plus power brakes and steering. Love the stance, the shaved doors, the Cadillac wheel covers and the white wall tires.
