1966 Chevy II Nova Super Sport Coupe at Dave’s Performance Auto

Written by Ken Altes

Sold last year at Austin’s Mecum auction for $32,000, it’s had a rotisserie restoration with a small block crate engine, auto transmission and custom Foose wheels.  Dave’s Perfection Automotive is a venerable classic and custom car garage on S. 1st St., now owned by Steve Wertheimer, owner of the Continental Club on S. Congress Ave, and co-instigator of the annual custom car show, the Lonestar Round Up, the highlight of my car year. 1959 Chevrolet Impala Convertible on S. Congress

Written by Ken Altes

No doubt, South Congress Ave is the center of Austin’s car culture and where I find so many wonderful cars. This 1959 Chevy Impala has dual exhaust pipes so, if original, it has either the 283 cu. in. V8, or the 348 cu. in. V8 (related to the 409, made famous by the Beach Boys’ song ‘409′, and the first gen 427). 1959 Chevrolet Convertible in Austin TX1959 Chevrolet Impala Convertible in Austin TX interior1959 Chevrolet Impala Convertible in Austin Texas
