Sweet Longhorn Karmann Ghia in Austin, Texas

Written by Ken Altes

When I was 14, my sister’s boyfriend asked to swap my Honda S90 for his 1950s black Karmann Ghia for a few hours.  Yes, of course!  I drove that VW around for a while until it was low on gasoline.  I had no idea that the gas filler was under the front hood — it was pretty obvious that I was too young to be out alone in any car but I knew that the attendant wasn’t going to blow my cover!  (I never asked why the boyfriend wanted my bike that afternoon – was he undercover, too?)

I got these pics at Auditorium Shores and Lady Bird Lake.

Miss Kitty, Kate’s 1963 Falcon Ranchero in N. Austin

Written by Ken Altes

Kate loves her Ranchero, “Miss Kitty,” purchased from a farmer near Dublin, Texas, who kept her protected under a tarp in his shed.

I spotted Miss Kitty in a parking lot in N. Austin, and while grabbing a few pics, Kate returned from shopping and gave me this bit of info.  Very nice, thanks, Kate!  kate's 1963 Falcon Ranchero, Austin Texas kate's 1963 Falcon Ranchero, Austin TX detailkate's 1963 Falcon Ranchero, Austin TX 2 kate's 1963 Falcon Ranchero, in Austin Texas
