1956 Ford Victoria in Car Lot

Written by Ken Altes

1956 Ford Victoria I spotted at a used car lot in Cleburne, Texas. Sadly, the dealership has closed. Note that the upscale Crown Victoria had the “basket handle” stainless trim running over the roof. I got a few really good pictures there, and one reader told me that the owner also operated a funeral parlor. Begs the question, how did these cars get to the car lot?

Turns out that swap meets have many interesting cars to photograph.  This one was in Grand Prairie, Texas.  1964 Mercury Montclair Hardtop “Fastbacks” were sold with either 390ci or 427ci V8s.  Note the lake pipes and the reversed chrome wheels, love this car!

Milestone Car: 1949 Cadillac at Lonestar Round Up

Written by Ken Altes

Beautiful, and significant car. The 1949 Cadillac had the first modern OHV, lightweight V8, with 331 cu. in. 160 hp, plus the excellent four-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission. It took the other American manufacturers as long as six more years to catch up. Love the fastback. 1949-cadillac-at-lonestar-round-up-austin-tx 1949-cadillac-at-lonestar-round-up-austin-tx-interior1949-cadillac-at-lonestar-round-up-austin-tx-rear
