Chevrolet only made about 1040 fuel injected (constant flow type) 283 cu. in. engines this year but they made one horsepower for each cubic inch.

Best styling of the period, worst reliability of the period, and first year of the superior torsion bar front suspension. Not sure, but I believe this is the stripped down Plaza commercial vehicle.
Virgil Exner’s “Forward Look” 1957 New Yorker had a 392 cu in Hemi V8 pushing 325 hp through its TorqueFlite 3-speed auto trans. Torsion bar front suspension, Torsion-Aire, gave great ride and handling. Quad headlamps were optional.
First year of the 283 cu in V8, available with fuel injection giving 283 HP.
